elephantitus of the prawn head, and other stories from brunch.

you all know i don't like to play favorites, but this past brunch was absolutely divine. yes, the waiter had a bit of an at-ti-tude, but annette kept him in check. yes, the mini-scones took approximately 8 hours to arrive at our table, but they were oh-so-delicious. and the prawns, well, i'll let you judge for yourselves.

special highlights: welcome, sarah c! next time please bring jim from the office. sara s. reminded us all why it's best to let the voicemail pick up when the "doctor" calls. and aaron and annette provided the post-brunch club entertainment that, frankly, was better than any door prize i could have imagined. the way i look at it, we're all winners.

great brunch everyone - where to next week?

  • **AHEM** let me point out that RSVP is deeply appreciated aka required for this brunch event.

When the snooty maitre d' at Home snidely rebuffed my request for a May 14 reservation ("You mean on MOTHER'S DAY??"), it only whetted my curiosity as to what this acclaimed brunch spot has to offer. So much so that, upon learning that they don't accept group reservations between noon and 2pm, I took a deep breath and made an 11:45 -- yes, that's A.M. -- reservation.

Home is located on Cornelia Street, a charming one-block-long street between bleecker and West 4th. We will be seated in the garden so let's hope it's not sweltering, and if it's likely to be, let's find a new spot.

I made the reservation for 8 ppl... if the group is going to be bigger, I have to let them know because it requires special dispensation from the owner. So RSVP, por favor, grazie.
